Synopsis & Insights:
Dashing in December is a warming holiday romance that adds some innovation to the traditional Christmas movie. The title follows Wyatt Burwall, Peter Porte, an urbanite business all in a coat who goes back to rural areas to persuade his mother Deb emphasised by Andie MacDowell to sell the family ranch. But back at home, Wyatt finds Heath Ramos, Juan Pablo Di Pace, a ranch hand and what starts as a battle of the bullheads soon evolves into inconsiderate billowing clouds of passion.
The love between Porte and Di Pace is relatively simple and soft making their affair the film’s centre of emotion. MacDowell wons the role of Wyatt’s mother who wants a lot from her son and is almost ready to give up the ranch.
Dashing in December is an enchanting and community-oriented Christmas movie that is not afraid to tackle issues such as acceptance, family and the bravery of falling in love. It is an uplifting movie that forays into the Christmas season but also interlaces a love story that is both contemporary and entertaining. Such a lovely western setting filled with tenderness is so suitable for festive times that the film can be watched as a comforting holiday escape.
