“Werewolves” is a 2024 American action-horror movie directed by Steven C. Miller. The plot starts with a supermoon event which once again instigates the transformation of humans into wolf-like creatures as had happened the previous year. The storyline revolves around two researchers who attempt to suppress the transformations and the turmoil that surrounds them.
Synopsis
It’s been a year since a hyper moon activated some dormant genes in humans, transforming them into blood thirsty werewolves and taking close to a billion lives. A supermoon is rising and the nightmare is set to repeat itself again. At this juncture two scientists, Wesley Marshall and Dr Amy Chen, try to contain the blood lust but sadly have to let those bathe in the moonlight transform once again into savage beasts. Cities turn into warzones as the professor and the doctors try to make their way to one of their family houses tormenting the beasts.

“Werewolves” can be best described as a film that wants to mix together the elements of action and horror genres. The story is centered around a hypothetical world wide pandemic of werewolves that is started by a supermoon. A majority of the werewolves in the film are depicted through practical effects which gives an 80s horror film realism. Sadly, the feedbacks given by a lot of viewers is rough if it gets compared. They do mention having a good time watching the film, but complain about how uninteresting the plot was.
Cultural Significance
The movie adds to the werewolf genre by angling it towards current issues which include a global pandemic and experimentation. It also manages to capture the core character or elements of monster films through its practical affects techniques. Although certainly not allcritics of “Werewolves” were impressed the film clearly has one steriephiles – fans of action-horror crossovers – will find gratifying.
