Synopsis & Insights:
Resort to Love is a romantic feel-good feature drenched in a beautiful tropical backdrop. This time Christina Milian plays the role of a wannabe singer Erica Wilson who after a terrible sudden career blow takes on a position that requires her to entertain guests at a fancy resort located on an exotic island. What Erica does not understand is that Michelle’s dress will be worn by Jason King’s ex-fiancé, Jay Pharoah. As things weren’t already bad enough, Erica pursues Jason’s handsome and sweet brother Caleb Sinqua Walls who starts waking strange feelings within her.
The actress Christina Milian pours in an animated and easily understandable energy of Erica which makes the development and progress of Erica’s character from self-consolation to self-revelation enjoyable to watch. On the other hand, from Jay Pharoah’s Jason comes comic relief and heightening tension, whereas from Sinqua Walls, there is a good reliable and loving Caleb where the romantic struggle of the movie lies.
Resort to Love is a pleasant and fun movie that does not offer background information and justifies itself for people who need an enjoyable little movie. The movie offers wonderful romantic vistas and contains enough comic relief mixed with real assessments of love, closure and moving on. The interactions between the characters, particularly this love triangle, make the plot interesting.
Fans of romantic comedies with an abundance of romance, humor and beautiful scenery will definitely enjoy Resort to Love. This is one of those movies that allows the audience to temporarily forget about the world while also reminding them about the need to start new things when the old ones are over.
