Personal Insights

“Matka” showcases the stunning depiction of Visakhapatnam mid 20th century portrays, set design and cinematography are spot on merging with the time period accurately. Varun Tej puts in an admirable show as he convincingly goes from a refugee Vasu to a powerhouse in the underworld. But the storytelling of the film has come under criticism for being too predictable and cliché, which may reduce its effectiveness.

Cultural Significance

“Belly” is interesting in that, the title ‘Matka’ is specific on the gambling styling matka as it explains the culture associated with it while branching out of India in that the mid – 20th century Indian population was treated economically and socio politically by making elevation into and exploring the hilly terrains.” This sets the story in Visakhapatnam between 1958 and 1982 concentrating on gambling culture in India” It aims to enact realistic events and account contributed by real figures but explicitly the tale is fictional and even the characters are fiction so as to tell a known side of history of India but not by in these ports.

To sum up the disputation, the movie “Matka” highlights the usual way of life in its cherishable time however the portrayal is backed with good acting and good costume. Its traditional mode of its narrative techniques on the other hand may not satisfy those looking for a more active cinematic experience.
